Is Psilocybin Right for You? Who It Fits
Probably, if you’re an adult who wants structured, supported time to work on something that hasn’t budged on its own, and you’re willing to do the preparation and the follow-up that go with it. You don’t need a diagnosis, a referral or a prescription. You don’t need to live in Oregon.
Here’s what a good fit usually looks like, and the one thing we check before we say yes.
Who tends to be a good fit
You’re 21 or older and making this choice for yourself. Oregon’s program is for adults. We treat you like one: you get straight information and the final call is yours.
You’re carrying something heavy. People come to us with depression, anxiety, grief and trauma. Psilocybin isn’t a cure and we don’t promise outcomes. What we offer is a careful setting, a trained facilitator beside you the whole time, and real support before and after.
You’re not unwell, just stuck. This surprises people. In the first full year of Oregon’s program data (2025), the most common reason clients gave wasn’t a diagnosis. It was general health and wellness, at about 30%, ahead of depression at about 22%. Burnout, a career or relationship turning point, a feeling that your life has gone flat: all of that is a reasonable place to start.
You’ll do the work around the session. Our standard is two preparation sessions and two integration sessions. Integration, the weeks after, is where most of the value gets built, and people who treat the session day as the whole thing tend to get less out of it.
You can give yourself some room. The session itself runs four to six hours but can last longer. Many people arrive the day before and stay in Hood River for the following two days so the drive home isn’t part of the experience. If you’re traveling from Portland, Seattle or farther, that’s easy to plan.
What we check first
Safety comes before booking, every time. Our clinical director, who is a registered nurse, reviews your medications and health history before anything goes on the calendar. Some medications can interact with psilocybin. If something gets flagged, we’ll tell you, but we’ll never recommend that you discontinue a medication. That conversation belongs between you and your doctor.
Some health conditions need more care. Occasionally the answer is “not yet” or “not here,” and when it is, we’ll tell you why and what, if anything, would change it.
Please don’t change or stop any medication on your own to prepare. Talk to the prescriber who knows you first.
How to find out
Start with a conversation. It’s a phone call, not a sales pitch, and nothing is scheduled until we’re both confident it’s right. Our Sessions page walks through the process, and the Pricing page has the full cost: one flat price, published.
If you’d like to talk it through, start the conversation. A real person reads every message.
