There is a moment that happens in a lot of conversations at Vital Reset. Someone calls or emails, clearly ready to take the next step, and then the questions start. How does it actually work? What should I expect? How do I know if I’m a good candidate? How do I choose a facilitator? What happens after?

Those are exactly the right questions. And now there is a book that answers all of them.

Legal Psilocybin in America: Real Hope. Real Healing is written for anyone who wants to understand legal psilocybin. Whether you are considering a journey, just starting to research, or trying to help someone you love find their way to this medicine. It gives you everything you need to find a legal psilocybin experience and get the most out of it.

What the Book Covers

The book is organized in three parts.

Part One walks you through how legal psilocybin actually works — the science, the preparation, the session itself, dosing, safety, consent, and what to look for when choosing a facilitator and service center. This section is practical, detailed, and written from years of direct experience guiding people through the process.

Part Two tells the story of how psilocybin became legal in Oregon and how pioneers built the industry from the ground up. It also covers the spread of legalization to Colorado and beyond — an important context for anyone watching this movement grow across the country.

Part Three is Heidi’s personal story. How she found psilocybin. What it did for her treatment-resistant depression. What it took to open one of the first legal psilocybin service centers in the United States.

What Dr. Michael Beug Says

Dr. Michael Beug, PhD — author of Mushrooms of Cascadia: An Illustrated Key to the Fungi of the Pacific Northwest — wrote the foreword. He describes Legal Psilocybin in America as “a practical guide to accessing legal psilocybin” and “a clear, grounded introduction to where we are with legal psilocybin today.” He calls it “a steady and informed starting point” written “from direct experience and thoughtful observation.”

Why This Book Exists

This is the expanded second edition of Heidi’s first book, Psilocybin in Oregon. The new version goes further — more history, more detail, more collaborators, and a broader view of where legal psilocybin is headed in America. It also includes an Audible version, narrated by Heidi herself in a professional recording studio, for those who prefer to listen, or to listen and read along on their Kindle.

Heidi has spoken about Oregon’s psilocybin program at Harvard Law School twice, starred in the documentary Journeys, and has guided dozens of people through their psilocybin experiences at Vital Reset in Hood River, Oregon. This book comes from that depth of experience.
